Building Green

The foundation of any construction project is embedded in the concept and design stages. We believe that conserving resorces during construction and maximising energy efficiency inside our homes is an integral part of creating each house. We make a point of taking advantage of opportunities that benefit the natural features and resources surrounding the site. Our green commitment builds energy - efficient residences that help control energy costs. Our homes easily meet the 6 star requirements crucial for future sustainability.

For these reasons we have our 7 point policyBuilding Green to help acheive a 6 star rating

  • Siting and structure design efficiency
  • Water efficiency
  • Material efficiency
  • Energy efficiency
  • Protect occupant health and improve our employee productivity
  • Reduce our waste and pollution
  • Reduce our enviromental impact

We can do this effectively and easily without huge cost increases by simply doing the following

  • Ceiling insulation to a minimum of R2.5 and wall insulation to R1.5 to reduce the cool in summer and retain heat in the winter
  • Wrap house with sisalation paper with a R1.0 rating to further enhance the insulation already installed
  • Use low - flow plumbing fixtures to conserve water such as low flush toilets and low - flow shower heads
  • Flurorencent lighting throughout the home to cut the use of electricity
  • Careful integration of natural and artifical light sources
  • Engineered wood products such as laminated beams, floor joists and flooring
  • Prefabricated wall frames and trusses that are manufactured with fast growing renewable timber
Provide adequate ventilation and air filtration
  • Rain water collection
  • Light roof colours and wall colours
  • Orientation of the house can help reduce energy costs
